Today there are 65 million refugees throughout the world. The circumstances for leaving their home countries are very diverse, as are the escape routes and experiences on these routes. However all have in common the search for a safe home in which they can survive. Dr Koettig is investigating how people from different backgrounds and diverse experiences adapt to life in their host country, and the opportunities and restrictions that result from the immigration and integration system of that country.
Dr. Michaela Koettig is professor of communication, communication techniques, and conflict management at the University of Applied Sciences Frankfurt, Germany. Her research concentrates on female right-wing extremism, (forced) migration and radicalization in Germany.
